It’s no secret that I love a natural makeup look, but I love to add an occasional pop of color. In my opinion, a look isn’t truly complete until you’ve finished it off with your favorite shade of lipstick! Lipstick has the power to take your makeup look to another level, instill confidence and give you the boldness to take on the day. As someone who has tried her fair-share of lip shades and brands, I’m sharing my go-to lipstick colors – the ones I’m loving lately and the ones that have stuck with me through it all! MY GO-TO NUDE + PINK LIPSTICK
For my everyday lip color, I prefer a color that is just a shade or two darker than my natural lip color with tones of pink. With darker features and a fair to medium skin tone, finding the perfect nude/pink lipstick for my everyday lip color was a bit challenging. Either the shade was too pink, or too brown, or I didn’t care for the wear or application. But, over the last couple years I am so happy to say that I finally found a couple tried-and-true nude/pink shades that have become my go-to lipstick colors – especially for everyday wear!
Lately, I’ve been using this lipstick here in the shade “Enjoy the View” for my daily lip. It’s under $10, easy to apply, and stays put for most of the day without drying out my lips. But if I want a nude/pink lipstick that’s practically bullet-proof I use lipsense in the shade “Girlfriend” – which is also what I wore on my wedding day! (Just prepare to really scrub it off at the end of the day!)
My favorite Orange/RED LIPSTICK
I love a cheery and vibrant makeup look – especially during the warmer months. So, one of my go-to lipstick colors is a bright red lipstick with hues of orange and cherry. I have a few that I switch between depending on which one is at the top of my makeup bag. But lately, I have preferred the SuperStay Ink Crayon by Maybelline in the shade “Hustle in Heels” for a bright red/orange shade, easy application, and long wear. It’s one of my most recent beauty-buys and under $10, so it’s safe to say I am a huge fan! But I also love the bareMinerals BAREPRO Longwear Lipstick in the shade cherry or saffron!
MY GO-TO DARK RED LIPSTICK
Nothing says “chic and timeless” quite like a deep red lipstick. When I want to make a bold statement with my look, Russian Red by MAC is one of my go-to lipstick colors and has been for years! For being a matte lipstick with virtually no claims of being long-lasting, this red lipstick always exceeds all of my expectations and stays put for most of the day if I line my lips beforehand. Since it is matte, it can be a little drying so sometimes I’ll top it with a coat of gloss to give my lips a little shine and moisture. Definitely a favorite!
