I am excited to introduce the first post of my Wedding Series: The Wedding Edit! As a long-standing maid of honor, bridesmaid, wedding calligrapher, and the occasional wedding hair and makeup artist, I have thrown myself into all things wedding-related for quite some time now. But as a new bride-to-be, I am SO excited to share this journey with you on a more personal level and talk about everything from finding your perfect wedding dress to what to pack on your honeymoon.
First on my list, I want to share how I asked my favorite gal pals to be my bridesmaids!
Last week I gave my bridesmaids their bridesmaid boxes and I can’t tell you how exciting all of this was for me. I will have a group of six of the most important ladies in my life standing by me while I marry my best friend. Eeek!
Speaking from experience, I know that being a bridesmaid entails way more than just showing up for the party. Its attending and/or organizing showers, supporting the bride through the wedding process (aka in moments of panic when the forecast calls for 60% chance of rain….), planning a bachelorette party to remember (or in some case, to not remember), and much more. So to ask the gals closest to me to take time out of their lives to be a part of this adventure with me, a text message just wasn’t going cut it.
This is why I put together little proposal boxes for each of my bridesmaids, full of fun stuff they would actually love.
Each box contains the essentials for a night of good ole’ R&R, because these ladies deserve nothing less!
I wanted the box itself to be something they could use again, so I found decorative gift boxes similar to these and filled the bottom of each box with crinkle cut paper to start.
I included some of my favorite Summer-scented Wood Wick candles, like this one and this one. (There is just something so soothing about the crackle sound they make as they burn!) I also added some of my favorite bubble bath from Dr. Teals like this one and some bath bombs. My favorite Tocca lotion like this one here. A cute succulent I picked up at Target, similar here. Non-agitating hair ties from Ulta here and Anthropologie here. And last, but not least, a box of chocolates, because what is pampering yourself without chocolate?! Am I right, ladies?
To top off each box, I hand-calligraphed each card to ask them to be in my wedding (even though we all knew this day was comin’). These are some of the most important ladies in my life who all said YES to stand by me on my big day! To say I’m excited is an understatement!
Did you put together a Bridesmaid Proposal box to ask your bridesmaids to be in your wedding? If so, what did you include? Share in the comments below!
