It’s finally Spring! Ok, well the weather isn’t quite shaping out like Spring just yet, but I am not letting that stop me. *snaps fingers in a Z formation*
There is just something about this time of year that, quite literally, puts a little spring in my step. Emerging from the depths of winter (slowly but surely) and into a new season full of sunshine, blooming buds, and warmer air brings a sense of renewal with it. The hype of the new year and its resolutions have faded and my annual hankering for spring cleaning has begun. So today I wanted to share 3 simple steps on how to start Spring cleaning absolutely everything this season.
As you begin to transition your wardrobe from Winter to Spring, be sure to stop and assess what items you are pulling back out or storing away. I ask myself these questions when I am debating on keeping or getting rid of an item: Have I worn it in a year? Does it fit me well? Is it still my style? Is it in good condition? If I answer “no” to any of these questions, I know it is time to say my farewells and put the item in my donate/toss/sell pile.
After your closet, make your way onto the rest of the list to tackle: linen closet, pantry, storage, basement, garage, car. Take this time to organize, clean, and reassess the things you might be holding onto. Just remember, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT be a hoarder when Spring cleaning your home! You will defeat the purpose of effective Spring cleaning and making room for anything new!
Stay strong, my fellow shoppers. If I can do it, so can you!
I don’t mean just take a shower… Well, yes, do that, too, but what I really mean is, take a look at your current diet, skin care routine, your hair, your nails, etc. Is it time for a change? Winter weather tends to require a whole different set of demands from us when it comes to our overall health, so it’s important to reevaluate what your body needs as the seasons change.
Personally, my skin is 10x dryer in the winter than in the warmer months, so when I spring clean, I will be swapping out my heavier daily moisturizer like this one here, with a much lighter moisturizer like this one here. I also fall victim to all those warm, hearty Southern meals in the Winter–which is easy to get away with in my oversized, comfy sweaters, but not so much when it’s bikini season!
And now onto the Mr. Rogers portion of my steps to Spring Cleaning… I’ll be honest, as beautiful as it may be, Winter just has a way of dampening moods as it drags on longer and longer. People begin to yearn for that warm sunshine and to leave the clambering out of bed and constant shivering behind. I’m sure it’s a proven fact somewhere… but warmer weather just makes people happier! So, I want to take this time to Spring clean my mind as well.
Leave the coldness, the bitterness, the comparison, the jealousy, whatever it is, in the Winter. Let’s wipe the slate clean and begin Spring with a completely refreshed mindset and attitude.
Are you Spring cleaning this season? If so, share your tips and tricks on how to tackle your to-do list!
